An Overview

The trek to Hamta Pass 4270 m is an unforgiving trek in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The best time for this trek is in the month of Mid-April to Mid-November. Prini is the nearest village from the base camp and the length of the trek is 34 kms one way. The trek to Hamta Pass offers renewing view of the Himalayas and their bountiful beauty. This is one of the best treks for those who wants to witness solace amongst valleys, beautiful forests lanes, pastures, and snow. Initially, you will walk around the field close to the trees which seems like a door to the magical world where words go numb. While walking the lane covered with Deodar forest, the air around is a mix of various aromas of trees flowers and a typical scent of animals with flowing river and the slope of glaciers. The trek is a walk down the slope, following the little trail through the scarce woods and sounds of the river flowing, followed by an ascend to the snowy glaciers, touching snow-covered mountain peaks and soaring into the skies before a final descent. Camping while experiencing a dramatic change in scenery will be one of the best parts of the Hampta pass trek. This 34 km trek will cover Dhauladhar Ranges, Kullu Valley, barren landscape in the Lahaul & Spiti Valley and finally to a barren rare beautiful isolated lake located at a height of 14,100 feet named Chandratal or simply Moon Lake. Chandratal Lake is a high altitude alpine lake –  with its rare deep blue color. You can almost feel yourself melt into purely spiritual being with the kind of immense pleasure, a satisfaction that is indescribable. Moreover, this trek completes a full circle. In short, this magical trek will blow your mind away! We would recommend it the best trek for the adventurous starters.
