Kinner Kailash Trek– Kinner Kailash Shivlingam Trek (4,650 m) is a spiritual, high altitude trek in Kinnaur district of Himachal. Trekatribe offers trekking to this awakening high altitude trek in the month of June-September. If you are an ardent trekker, adventure freak, and have deep faith towards Lord Shiva, then this trek is for you. This trek will take you to the heart of one of the most mythical abodes of Lord Shiva, with a 79 feet vertical rock located at a height of 4,650m (15,255ft) in the Kinner Kailash mountain range. This vertical rock changes its colors many times in a day. Located in Kinnaur Valley this trek will test your physical and mental endurance as out of a total length of the trek, 90% of the trek is steeply inclined. The trek will commence from a village named Tangling, located on the left bank of Satluj river. After village trail, the trek will be a steep incline ascend towards Ganesh Park or Kailash Darshan Park, which was earlier known as Aashiqui Bagh as it was the place for the meeting of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati according to the ancient mythology.

After Ganesh Park, there is a glacier to be crossed to reach the Goofa point and a further ascend alongside the most magnificent flowers called Brahmakamal will be taking you to the pond known as the Parvati Kund, located just beneath the Kinner Kailash Shivlingam. The water of the pond is believed to have some healing properties. After Parvati Kund, an hour trek over the small and large boulders will be taking you to the top in front of the mighty Shivlingam. After reaching this point, all the physical strains and mental tiredness will be vanished as soon you witness this beautiful 79 ft vertical Shivlingam. One can witness the stupendous Mt. Kinner Kailash {6,050m (19, 849 ft)} from this point. Many times if you are lucky enough you can witness the yellow beak alpine bird known as Alpine Chough rovering around the Shivlingam. Alpine Chough is a bird in Crow family which nests their eggs at a point higher than any other bird in the world. On a sunny bright day, you can have a spectacular view of Reckong Peo, Kalpa village and also the mighty peaks of Kinnaur and adjacent Spiti areas.

  • One can witness the beautiful Brahma Kamal, a rare, legendary & mythological plant of the Himalayas here in this trek.

Day 1 (5 July): Arrival in Shimla. At night, drive towards Tangling, Kinnaur (136 km).

Day 2 (6 July): Reach Tangling and after breakfast trek commencement towards Ganesh Bagh with lunch en route (4-5 hours). After reaching Ganesh Bagh, a brief about the location and the ranges visible from Ganesh Bagh. Bonfire, dinner and night stay in tents.

Tangling: Tangling is a small village located on the left bank of Satluj river. There are few ways to reach Tangling village either by directly taking a right turn from Shongtong bridge or by using a daring rope bridge (Satluj Jhulla)  from the Powari village.

Day 3 (7 July): After breakfast, trek commencement from Ganesh bagh towards the Gufa (4 km) with lunch en route. Refreshments, bonfire, dinner and night stay in the tents near Gufa.

 Day 4 (8 July): Early morning trek from Gufa towards the top (3 km), with a refreshment and halt at Parvati Kund. Briefing about the Kund and further trek towards the top. After reaching the top, an hour rest at the top with a briefing about the passes, peaks, and places around. Then descend back towards Gufa or Ganesh Bagh (7 km) according to the situation. Dinner and night stay in tents.

Kinner Kailash Shivlingam Point: Kinner Kailash Shivlingam point is located at a height of 4,650m (15,255 ft) just below the mighty Mt. Kinner Kailash at 6,050m (19,849 ft).  It is believed to be the Abode of Lord Shiva.

Day 5 (9 July): After breakfast, descend from Gufa or Ganesh Bagh (10 km) towards Tangling. Drive back from Tangling to Shimla. At Shimla, we part ways to meet soon for another trekking adventure. (Night stay in Shimla would be arranged if required by you)

Buffer Day- It is important to have an extra day as any bad weather condition or landslides may delay your journey . In case another day is utilized, you need to pay ₹ 1800 for buffer day expenses.


Stay – Tents (sharing basis); Sleeping bags and carry mats.

Meals- Vegetarian Nutritious and Tasty Meals during the Trek with Evening Tea.

  2. Lunch on Day 2, 3 and 4
  3. Dinner on Day 2, 3 and 4

Experienced trek leaders and cook.

Transport from Shimla and back to Shimla.

Other Guidance

  • Climbers are reminded that there is a 15kg limit on personal luggage for all climbs.
  • Cameras, whether video or film, needed to be protected against the severe cold either in a warm pouch or the interior pockets of your clothing. Do not keep your camera in your backpack at higher elevations.
  • We do not provide donkeys or porters to carry luggage.
  • No insurance is provided during the trek.
  • When between camps, please carry your daily personal rubbish to the next camp.
  • Remember – “Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints”. So, keep the mountains clean and green.
  • Aspirins and Paracetamols are highly recommended for headaches and because they also thin the blood that will help improving circulation & oxygen delivery to the body.  Strong painkillers are not recommended as they can suppress respiration.
  • Personal expense of any kind will not be entertained.

  •  A good sturdy pair of shoes and a backpack with plastic or water-proof lining.
  • Comfortable, lightweight clothing.
  • Sunglasses or goggles.
  • Woollen hat for warmth.
  • Pocket knife.
  • Torch.
  • Scarf or bandana.
  • Lip balm.
  • Sunscreen Lotion.
  • Ear plugs. (Optional)
  • Spare contact lenses or glasses.
  • Thermal innerwear.
  • Extra polythene bags.
  • A whistle.
  • Reading materials, Games, Cards. (Optional)
  • Towel especially lightweight quick-dry type.
  • Track pants with more pockets. Carry around 2 pants. Avoid jeans.
  • Waterproof jackets and gloves.
  • A raincoat since the weather can be unpredictable sometimes.
  • Identification proof like Passport, Driving license, Aadhar card etc.
  • 1 Passport size photograph.


  • Cancellation of booking of tour 31 days or more before the date of Departure will result in 20% deduction in the cost of the tour.
