An Overview

Rupin Pass is a high altitude pass in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. This pass connects Sangla to Rohru and further to Uttarakhand state. This trek commences from Sangla, a village near the Baspa river and leads towards Sangla Kanda. Few people live in Sangla Kanda with their cattle and they usually go throughout the valley for grazing purposes. There is a lake in Sangla Kanda and the view of high lofty peaks of Kinner Kailash range from Sangla Kanda is truly mesmerizing. From Sangla Kanda, further trek through the meadows will take us to Ronti Gad, our second day camp with lofty mountain peaks in front. In between Sangla Kanda and Ronti Gad, there is a trail which stretches towards Nalgan Pass which further leads to Dodra Kwar, Shimla. Further, 3 hours journey from Ronti Gad will take us to the beautiful Rupin Pass. On a sunny bright day, one can witness the ranges of Rohru and further the lofty Peaks of Uttarakhand from Rupin Pass. Rupin Pass trek consists of trails dug out of rock faces and wooden bridges, cut through deep dark folds in the mountain, glaciers and icy slopes, and over snowfields. Along the way, there are white Rhododendrons and expanse of green meadows. Rupin Pass trek is a mixture of variable terrains ranging from beautiful meadows to snow trails to small boulders trails towards the top. Rupin Pass trek is full of adrenaline rush and surely an adventure of a lifetime.

Rupin Pass Trek Itinerary

Day 1

The trip begins with our arrival in Shimla from Delhi in a comfortable AC Volvo bus. We spend the day in Shimla while learning more about the trek and about the locations to prepare ourselves better for this amazing adventure. The days ends with a dinne and night stay in Shimla.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, we begin our drive from Shimla to Sangla. Further we trek from Sangla to Sangla Kanda which takes about 3-4 hours. Here, we receive a briefing about the place and about the peaks visible from Sangla Kanda from our trek guide, followed by a bonfire, dinner and night stay in tents at Sangla Kanda.

Day 3

After breakfast, we start our trek from Sangla Kanda towards Ronti Gad (4-5 Hours). Here, we receive a briefing of passes visible en route Ronti Gad. After reaching Ronti Gad, we get a briefing about the place and its history. The day ends with a scrumptious dinner and night stay in tents at Ronti Gad.

Day 4

After breakfast, we begin our last ascend towards Rupin Pass (2-3 hours). After reaching the pass, we brief about the other side visible from the pass, about the ranges and peaks visible. After spending about 30-45 minutes and taking in the serenity at the pass, we descend back towards Sangla Kanda followed by a bonfire, dinner and night stay in Sangla Kanda.

Day 5

After breakfast, we descend down towards Sangla village and then further drive back to Shimla. At Shimla, we part ways to meet soon for another trekking adventure. (Night stay in Shimla would be arranged if required by you)
