An Overview

The trek to Dayara Bugyal at 3,048m is an unforgettable trek in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The best time for this trek is in the months of April to June and September to November. Uttarkashi is the nearest town from the base camp and the total length of this trek is 16 km one way. Dayara Bugyal trekking offers majestic views of the Greater Himalayas and vast, undulating meadows. The entire trek is itself known for its meadows where Dayara means ‘Area’ and Bugyal means ‘Meadow’, making it one of the most beautiful treks in Uttarakhand. It is situated at an elevation of 3048 m and is spread across 28 square kilometres. This is purely a lush green isolated trek. En route Dayara Bugyal you will come across Baranala Lake where one can see the beautiful reflection of Oak trees in that lake. Walking across the grasslands, dense forests at different places ending up at the vast expanse of the lush green meadow and across various shepherd huts, this trek will make you realize that sometimes the journey is more beautiful than the destination itself. Nature changes its colour according to seasons and you can definitely experience that in Dayara Bugyal. In summers and rainy season, it is pure green. In autumn it is very colourful and in winter it is pure white. It is purely a beginner’s delight so it's a very easy trek where you’ll catch sight of some majestic peaks namely Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II and III, Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda I and II, Black Peak, Bandarpunch and such. There’s a spectacular panoramic view of the Himalayan range from Dayara Bugyal.

Dayara Bugyal Trek Itinerary

Day 1

The trip begins with our arrival in Dehradun, followed by a quick drive to a village called Barsu in a car. At Barsu, we make a short hike of a kilometer to reach our campsite for the night followed by a bonfire and dinner.

Day 2
Today we begin trekking from Barsu to Dayara Bugyal after breakfast. The\is trail passes through a beautiful lake (Barnala Lake) and rich forest area with views of Himalayan ranges all around. This 8 kilometer long trail will take us about 4-5 hours. We spend the night in tents at Dayara Bugyal.
Day 3

After breakfast, we begon our descend from another route and trek down to Raithal which is around 7 Km from Dayara Bugyal. From Raithal, we drive back to Dehradun for our further departure with a heart full of happy memories.
