Perfect for a quick weekend escape, the Prashar Lake trek is a perfect blend of adventure and a spiritual journey. It lies 65 km north of Mandi, with a three-storied pagoda-like temple dedicated to the sage Prashar. The lake is highly revered among the locals, and it is said that the temple was built using a single deodar tree. The lake has a floating island in it, and it is said to be unclear how deep it is. The 180-degree view of the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal, and Kinnaur mountain ranges is sure to leave you awe-struck.

Prashar Lake Itinerary

    Board a comfortable luxury Volvo AC bus starting from Delhi in the evening. Get off at Panarsa (Mandi district), the base for the hike the next morning.

    Upon reaching Panarsa early in the morning, meet your friendly trek guide. After a satiating breakfast and hotel freshen-up, we will drive towards Jwalapur (25 km drive) and start our short hike towards Prashar Lake. This 8-kilometre journey should not take more than 3-4 hours, even for a beginner trekker. After reaching Prashar Lake, enjoy a briefing about the place and the ranges visible from there. We end the day with a Bonfire, Dinner, and a Night's stay in camps near Prashar Lake.

    Rise to the sound of serenity and after breakfast, visit the Prashar temple. The temple of Parashar is simply a masterpiece of folk art. Hike down to Panarsa village (3 hours) and catch your evening Volvo bus back to Delhi. Have a comfortable journey back home as you reminisce about the blissful 3 days you just spent right in the lap of Mother Nature. You will reach Delhi the next morning around 7-8 am.

  • Expenses incurred (accommodation/transportation) due to road blockages or other natural calamity will be borne directly by travelers.

Prashar Lake lies in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, at an altitude of around 2,730 m (8,950 ft). It’s surrounded by snow-covered peaks and dense forests of deodar.

The trek covers about 16 km round-trip from Panarsa. It’s an easy trail, ideal for beginners, families, and weekend travellers.

The trek is available throughout the year. - Summer (April–June): Lush green meadows and clear skies. - Monsoon (July–Sept): Misty trails and rain-washed views. - Winter (Dec–Feb): Snow-covered lake and frozen landscapes.

The trek starts from Panarsa, located on the Mandi–Kullu highway. You can reach Panarsa easily by bus or cab from Delhi, Chandigarh, or Mandi. From there, the drive to the trek base is arranged by TrekaTribe.

We provide campsites near Prashar Lake. All meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — are freshly cooked and served by our local support team.
