Kareri Lake trek is one of the most beautiful treks in Himachal, and it’s one of the hidden gems. The trek is beautiful, a little challenging, but the flowers and those small waterfalls make the journey memorable and easy.

The Kareri Lake trek is a moderate to easy trek if you have done some of the treks. If you are a beginner, then it might feel too difficult for you. The views are awesome, but I didn't find the meadows as expected. The lake is a bit dirtier. I can confidently say that the journey is far better than the destination. The water in the way is crystal clear and cold, you can take bath in the natural pools.

Kareri Lake is a high-altitude, freshwater lake, fed by snow melting from the Dhauladhar ranges. On the banks of the lake, there is a small temple and a few grazing grounds used by the local villagers. Kareri Lake serves as the base for further trekking in the Dhauladhar ranges, onward to Chamba and Bharmour via the Minkiani Pass and Baleni Pass. One can even embark on a journey to explore the seven alpine lakes that lie beyond the Minkiani pass.

A moderate trek ending at the beautiful Kareri Lake. The total trek is around 14 km, with the initial 3 km a bit steep and with many stairs. The trek starts at Kareri village. There is a parking space where the trek starts. You won't need to carry camp equipment. There are small shops at the end which provide camping equipment and basic food. The trek is usually not crowded. We hardly had 10 ppl at the campgrounds. Coming back on the same day might be difficult, so prep yourself for a night stay (you will love it though)
