Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Manali

As acclimatization is crucial to ensure a comfortable journey, we will spend the first day in Manali. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed at our hotel. In the afternoon, we will take a leisurely walk towards Old Manali where you can explore the beautiful Manu Temple and soak up the relaxed atmosphere. On our way back, we will visit the Hadimba Mata Temple and take a stroll along the bustling Manali Mall Road. We will return to the hotel for an overnight stay, ready for the exciting adventures ahead.

Day 2

Manali to Purne via Jispa and Shinku la

Start your day with an early breakfast as we embark on an epic journey to the remote and mesmerizing land of Zanskar. We'll begin our drive through the Atal Tunnel to the awe-inspiring Lahaul Valley before making our way to Darcha, which marks the start of the new route to Zanskar.
As we ascend towards the lofty heights of Shinku la, standing tall at 5091m above sea level, we'll be greeted with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Shinku la serves as the gateway to Zanskar Valley and marks the beginning of our exciting adventure through uncharted territory. We'll traverse through the hidden wonders of Zanskar Valley, crossing rivers and passing by quaint villages until we finally reach the picturesque village of Purne. Here, we'll stay in a cozy homestay, giving you a chance to experience the local culture firsthand.
Relax and rejuvenate for the night in the serene surroundings of Purne before embarking on further adventures in the days to come.

Day 3

Purney- Padam via Phugtal Monastery

After breakfast, we will head towards the main town of Zanskar Valley, Padum, but not before making a stop at the stunning Phugtal Monastery (4300 m). To reach the monastery, we will take a short and scenic hike of one hour (one-way). Phugtal Monastery's appearance has earned it comparisons to Bhutan's famous Tiger's Nest Monastery, and it's easy to see why. This beautiful and serene spot is a highlight of Zanskar Valley. After spending some time at the monastery, we will drive for 2-3 hours to reach Padum (3669 m), where we will spend the night.

Day 4

Padum – Sheila village/ Waterfall – Karsha Monastery and the Ruins of Zangla fort – Gombo Rangjom

Today, we will explore the main attractions and nearby villages of Zanskar Valley, including a short hike to Sheila waterfall, Karsha Monastery, and the Ruins of Zangla Fort. These places are known for their historical significance, natural beauty, and, cultural richness. After visiting these places, we will have some time to explore the main town of Padum and experience the unique charm of this remote land. Now, we will drive back towards Gombo Rangjom mountain and camp here for the night, followed by stargazing and witnessing the clear night sky of Zanskar.

Day 5

Gombo Rangjom – Shinkula – Manali

On this day, we will start our return journey back to Manali. We will ascend to Shinkula Pass once again and continue our drive towards Manali, which will take around 8-9 hours. Our car will drop you off near Manali Mall Road, where you can continue your journey back home.

What should I wear/carry in Zanskar Valley?

– Inner Thermals (must-have)
– Down Jacket
– 2x Trek Pants/Jeans
– A fleece jacket or windcheater jacket or windproof jacket to prevent the winds (must-have)
– A good sturdy pair of shoes
– A 50-65 L backpack (Do not carry suitcases or trolley bags please)
– Woollen socks
– Heavy woolens 2-3 sets (Sweatshirts/Fleece/pullovers/warm hoodie)
– Carry a cap and Sunscreen Lotion to protect yourself from direct sunlight as it is too harsh in this region to protect yourself from UV rays
– Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the hard sun
– Hand gloves are a must-have in the months of October to June.

Other Guidance

  • Travellers are reminded that there is a 15 kg limit on personal luggage for all trips.
  • Cameras, whether video or film, needed to be protected against the severe cold either in a warm pouch or the interior pockets of your clothing. Do not keep your camera in your backpack at higher elevations.
  • No insurance is provided during the trip of any kind.
  • When you travel, please never litter.
  • Remember – “Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints”. So, keep the mountains clean and green.
  • Aspirins and Paracetamols are highly recommended for headaches and because they also thin the blood that will help improving circulation & oxygen delivery to the body.  Strong painkillers are not recommended as they can suppress respiration.
  • Personal expense of any kind will not be entertained.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellation of booking of tour 31 days or more before the date of Departure will result in a 20% deduction from the total cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 21-30 days before the date of Departure will result in a 40% deduction from the total cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 11-20 days before the date of Departure will result in a 60% deduction from the total cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 6-10 days before the date of Departure will result in an 80% deduction from the total cost of the tour.
  • Cancellation of booking of tour 1-5 days before the date of Departure will result in a 100% deduction from the total cost of the tour.
